Forest Management

What an eye opener! I was shocked to learn that North America is one of the worldwide leaders in the percent of frontier forest compared to the original amount. Since 60M people inhabit and depend on forests for resources, we must step up our efforts to protect and preserve!

I do not believe that the average consumer realizes how much of the products they consume come from the forest. I wish more people would get tuned in to the conservation and management of the forest before it is too late.

Trees are not safe. Whether the forest is management by publicly or privately it must be done. We have loss too many organisms, land and trees because of unprotected and unpreserved forest.

I love being in the woods to take hikes. To think at how rapidly the forests are disappearing is sad. I wish that there would be more done towards preserving the forests. We are not just losing the trees, we are losing all of the wildlife that live in the forests.

Your presentation reminded me of all of the "tree farm" signs that I used to see in South Georgia when I was a kid. I haven't traveled that area in a long time, so I wonder if there are still large areas dedicated to trees. While these are manmade forests, at least there was a push at one time to plant trees!

I think the general public would be shocked if they really knew how many people depended on the forests. Additionally, I think they would also be shocked to find out how rapidly they are being lost. Kind of reminds me of the "Last child in the Forest" Act.
