I support year round, regional water restrictions. The amount of water that is wasted daily is amazing. Restrictions would help slow down the rate of water usage even in non-drought conditions.
If the general public only knew of the amount of usable freshwater that is present on Earth as opposed to the freshwater that is tied in glaciers, they would think twice about their water usage habits.
I found this presentation very informative about freshwater. Even though I know that freshwater is not the most abundant type of water, I think we all tend to forget that most of it is in glaciers and ice. The public needs to know about these facts to realize the significance of everything associated with freshwater supplies in the world.
